On December 15, Carnival Arts choreographer Marisol Blanco led a group of eight Warrior Girls from the PACE Center for Girls, Miami in a dance inspired by the Afro-Cuban warrior, Oya. She controls the wind, wields a machete, and is respected by all.

Today we took a break from the Splash! theme to honor our ancestors and loved ones who have passed on. All of the artists wrote private letters to a loved one or an ancestor, then each made a calavera in their memory.
Just for fun, we tried on some of the costumes we've been making this year and paraded around the Barry campus. Look out for the real Splash! on November 23!
